Product Details

Original Item. Only One Set Available. This is an extremely scarce set of German WWII Wehrmacht issued Skis & Poles for use by members of the 1st Ski Division, or 1. Skijäger-Division. The skis are in great shape, measuring roughly 79½” long. They are painted white with a green tip, with one ski having a small hole drilled through the green-painted tip.

The skis are both marked with a maker’s logo on the metal boot fittings, depicting a house atop a snowy mountain with the name below Erzgebirg’s Perle. Below this, stamped directly into the wood but painted over after the war, is a Waffenamt Eagle marking, very difficult to make out, but we believe the code to be Mchn4. Both skis are stamped in the wood with the number 78413, likely a serial number. The skis were likely repainted after the war for civilian use.

The poles are both in good shape and measure 49” tall each. The leather hand straps are intact but very worn, and they display very well.

This is a phenomenal set of skis that saw heavy use during and after the war. This is the first true WWII German-manufactured ski and pole set we have offered, so don’t miss it. Comes ready for further research and display!

The 1st Ski Division (1. Skijäger-Division) was a mountain infantry unit of the German Waffen-SS/Army trained to use skis for movement during winter. It was created on the Eastern Front in the autumn of 1943 in preparation for upcoming winter operations. It was enlarged into a full division in the summer of 1944. The division fought exclusively on the Eastern Front as part of Army Group Centre, including an approach to the Vistula river and during the retreat into Slovakia, southern Poland and the Czech lands, where it surrendered to the Red Army in May 1945.
